Fine Art
As one of the most vibrant art cultures in the world, Berlin is highly multicultural with a rich and most importantly, complex and difficult history. This course, Berlin History and Artists, examines how notions of German identity have been shaped by that history and investigates its ramifications in contemporary art.
Students visit museums, galleries and historical sites, as well as meet artists, curators and attend performing art events. The class is composed of a pre-trip segment of seminars, lectures, readings and screenings in ArtCenter Pasadena, culminating in a 10 day study away experience in Berlin during the Spring and Summer break.
